2024 was an incredible year for biochar education, filled with cross-sectoral, multi-national collaborations joining a cohesive effort to scale biochar awareness. At IBI this year, we partnered with numerous dedicated organizations around the world to create new educational tools to catalyze biochar adoption and scale international capacity for carbon removal.
I want to thank all of our partners for their tremendous commitment and efforts toward a healthier planet.
This year, we delivered two in-person events: the 2024 Biochar Academy in Thailand that was co-organized with ECHO Asia Impact Center, trained 70 biochar practitioners from 18 countries, and distributed 16 scholarships to regionally-based participants. The 2024 Study Tour in Italy, co-organized with the Italian Biochar Association (ICHAR), was attended by 35 multi-national practitioners. IBI also supported a Biochar Training event in Pakistan, co-organized with the National University of Science and Technology of Pakistan, connecting researchers and farmers for biochar adoption.
We also reached a wide audience through our online learning platforms, training over 475 individuals through self-directed, online courses.
IBI is thrilled to return to Thailand and partner with ECHO Asia to deliver the 2025 Biochar Academy from 24 February – 1 March!
IBI’s Biochar Academy is an immersive in-person, multi-day, hands-on workforce development course designed to equip emerging and future biochar professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to become effective biochar advocates, educators, and practitioners.
